Men's Soccer Settles for Scoreless Tie

Box Score

The Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team finished in a double overtime 0-0 tie in its first Landmark Conference match of the 2017 season with Catholic University Saturday at SoccerPlex Facility in Boyds, Maryland.

The teams were originally scheduled to play at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. but due to unplayable fields the game site was changed.

Maxfield Reed had the best opportunity to score for Susquehanna (1-5-2 overall, 0-0-1 Landmark) with just 10 seconds left in regulation but his shot went off the post, sending the teams into overtime.

With two minutes left in the second overtime, Aaron Skelly had a shot that was saved by the Catholic (2-3-4, 0-0-1).

Despite the 22-4 edge in shots that the Cardinals had, the River Hawks were able to keep the Cardinals off the board. Matt Ellingworth was credited with eight saves in the 110-minute game for his first shutout of the season.

The River Hawks return to action at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Penn State Harrisburg.
