Box Score Maddie Taylor scored the only goal for the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team as the River Hawks were defeated 4-1 by Catholic University in the first Landmark Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Catholic (5-2, overall, 1-0 Landmark) scored the first goal of the game just 24 seconds into the contest. Susquehanna (4-4, 0-1) tied the score 15 minutes later as Maddie Taylor scored after from receiving a pass from Stephanie Sachs.
Catholic regained the lead with less than two minutes remaining in the opening half and took the 2-1 lead into the break.
The River Hawks had chances to tie the game for most of the second half but were unable to add any more goals in the game despite leading the Cardinals' 7-6 in shots and 6-4 on penalty corners in the second half.
Catholic added an insurance goal with 10 minutes to play.
Emily DiGaetano recorded nine saves for the River Hawks in the loss.
Susquehanna will play at 7 p.m. Wednesday with a road game at Albright College.
