Women's Soccer Falls for the First Time in 2017

Box Score

After starting the season with an undefeated 8-0-1 record and trailing for just 23 minutes of the first nine games, the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team suffered its first loss of the season with a 1-0 decision to Lebanon Valley College Wednesday night in a non-conference game on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

The River Hawks (8-1-1) started the season with a nine-game unbeaten streak and a streak of 12 consecutive non-conference games without a loss.

Lebanon Valley (4-1-3) scored the only goal of the game in the 62nd minute with a hard shot from outside the top of the box after a deflected pass led to an open shot that beat Susquehanna keeper Jennifer Thorsheim.

Julia Tolin started the game making a pair of saves in the first half and Thorsheim came on after the halftime break and finished with a save.

Lebanon Valley held a slight 11-7 edge in shots and each team had a corner kick.

The River Hawks return to Landmark Conference play Saturday with a 4:30 p.m. game against Goucher in Sassafras Field.
