Box Score The Susquehanna University Field Hockey team made its third appearance in the last four years in the championship game of the Connie Harnum Classic Tournament Sunday but fell to Kean University by a score of 5-0 as the Cougars won their fifth consecutive tournament title on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Kean (2-0) did not allow a goal in the tournament after defeating Ithaca College 3-0 Saturday and scored three times in the first half against the River Hawks (1-1) to establish an early lead. The Cougars held a 20-4 advantage on shots but the penalty corners were nearly even with Kean holding a slim 9-7 edge.
Sophomore Emily DiGaetano started the game in the Susquehanna cage and made seven saves and senior Courtney Purnell played the 16 minutes of the game and made a pair of saves. Hunter Pitman fired three of the four shots on goal for the River Hawks with two coming off penalty corners.
Pitman was named to the All-Tournament team along with defender Julia Hasircoglu and midfielder Cayla Spatz.
Susquehanna will play its first road game of the season Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at King's College in Wilkes-Barre.
