Box Score Alyssa Bolger scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute to lead the Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Bolger took a pass from Emily Sullivan and used a high kick to make contact with the ball and send it into the back of the net as Susquehanna (9-1-1 overall, 2-0-0 Landmark) took an early lead in the game.
The River Hawks controlled the action in the first half with a 9-3 advantage in shots but Goucher (4-4-2, 0-2-0) played a more even second half with the shots tied at six each in the final 45 minutes of action.
Late in the second half, the Gophers had a chance to tie the score with a free kick from just outside the box. A shot came in over the heads of the player wall but Julia Tolin made a diving stop to keep Goucher off the board.
Tolin finished with five saves to improve to 9-1-1 on the season and record her fifth shutout of the season.
Susquehanna will play at Penn College Tuesday before returning to Landmark Conference play Saturday at Scranton who is in a three-way tie with Susquehanna and Juniata at the top of the Landmark Conference standings.
