Women's Tennis Wins Close 6-3 Decision

Box Score

Julia Spear and Laura Long teamed for a critical 8-7 (7-5) tie-breaker win at No. 2 doubles to help the Susquehanna University Women's Tennis team to a 6-3 victory over Alvernia University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match on the James Garrett Center Courts in Selinsgrove.

The close doubles win along with a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles allowed the River Hawks (2-2) to take a 2-1 edge in the match heading to singles action.

The brisk conditions made playing difficult for both teams but Susquehanna used wins in the No. 3, 4, and 5 positions and another forfeit at No. 6 to secure the victory.

Cassey Fox posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, Amy Jennings was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at No. 4 and Christina Rudderow won her match at No. 5 by a score of 6-0, 6-0 for the River Hawks.

Susquehanna will play next at Lebanon Valley Friday at 4:30 p.m.
