Box Score Courtney Adams scored a team-leading 15 points but no other player for the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team managed more than five points as the River Hawks dropped a 50-37 decision Saturday afternoon to Elizabethtown in a Landmark Conference game in Elizabethtown.
Adams scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half after Susquehanna (6-8 Overall, 1-3 Landmark) scored just 13 points in the first half.
Elizabethtown (8-6, 2-2) was nearly as cold in the first quarter as the score was just 8-6 after the first 10 minutes of the contest but the Blue Jays rebounded to score 17 points in the second half to take a 25-13 lead into the break.
In the second half, Susquehanna hit five of its first six shots to trim the lead down to six points at 31-25 but the Blue Jays finished the period on a 10-4 run to regain their 12-point lead as each team scored 16 points in the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the River Hawks were held scoreless for the first five minutes of the period and trailed by 16 points before Maddie Murray hit a jumper to stop the drought.
Elizabethtown scored only five points the rest of the game, but the River Hawks could not put together a run to cut into the lead.
Adams scored 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting and a 5-for-5 effort from the free throw line. The rest of the team was 9-for-39, including 2-for-17 from 3-point range. Megan McFadden led the team with 11 rebounds and also handed out a team-leading six assists.
Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday with a 7 p.m. Landmark Conference game at Juniata and will be back home next Saturday for a matchup against conference foe Drew.
