Women's Basketball Can't Overcome First Half Deficit

Box Score

Megan McFadden and Courtney Adams combined for all 24 of their combined points in the second half to help the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team try to recover from a poor shooting first half but it was not enough as Juniata College took an early lead and scored a 65-46 win over the River Hawks Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference game in Memorial Gym in Huntingdon.

Susquehanna (6-8 Overall, 1-3 Landmark) fell behind early and scored only four points in the opening quarter and managed just six in the second half as Juniata (14-1, 3-1) took a 28-10 at the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter, the River Hawks recovered offensively to score 18 points and also held Juniata to just 13 in the period.

In the final 10 minutes, Susquehanna added another 18-point quarter but the Eagles pulled away scoring 24 points in the final quarter.

McFadden and Maddie Murray led the River Hawks with 14 points each and Adams added 10 points. Adams and Murray each had six rebounds while McFadden led the team with seven rebounds and also added three steals.

The River Hawks return to action Saturday at home against Drew with a 4 p.m. start. The doubleheader with the men's game starting at 2 p.m. has been designated as Community Day with all fans admitted free of charge.
