Box Score Seth Callahan, Adam Dizbon and Bryce Butler all scored in double figures for the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team but it was not enough against a hot-shooting Drew University squad that posted a 98-65 victory over the River Hawks Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
Callahan scored 14 points, Dizbon added 12 and Butler chipped in 10 and Susquehanna (6-10 Overall, 3-3 Landmark) connected on 13 3-pointers. Drew (13-4, 6-0) shot 62.3 percent (38-for-61) from the field and a sizzling 72.2% (13-for-18) from 3-point range as the Rangers built an early 20-point lead and cruised to the victory.
The River Hawks scored 21 points on seven three pointers in the first 5:30 of the game and led by five points at 22-17 after Zach Knecht made a free throw with 13:49 left in the opening half.
Drew answered with a 24-0 run over the next five minutes to take a commanding lead. A late 10-0 run to end the half gave the Rangers a 28-point lead at the halftime intermission.
In the second half, Drew extended the lead to 35 points in the first several minutes of the period before the River Hawks started to chip away at the lead.
Butler sparked a rally with eight points through the middle of the half and a 3-pointer by Joel Morris followed immediately by a steal and basket by John Long cut the lead to 20 points at 85-65 with 4:31 left to play but the Rangers scored the final 13 points of the game for the final score.
Dizbon was 4-for-7 including 4-for-6 from 3-point range and Callahan was 5-for-10 with four 3-pointers. Jacob Walsh added eight points and a team-best four rebounds and Tyler Hoagland handed out five assists.
The River Hawks continue the four-game series of home games with a Landmark game against Catholic Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
