Box Score Jacob Walsh scored 12 of his team-leading 16 points in the second half but the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team fell behind early by shooting just 25 percent from the field in the period and dropped a 73-55 decision to Catholic University Wednesday night in a Landmark Conference contest in O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.
The River Hawks (6-11 Overall, 3-4 Landmark) made just 7-of-28 shots over the first 20 minutes while Catholic (11-6, 5-2) connected on nearly 45% (24-for-51) in the opening half and built a 30-20 advantage at the break.
In the second half, the Cardinals scored 11 of the first 13 points of the period to extend the lead to 19 points in the first six minutes of the half. Later in the period, Catholic used a 7-0 run to take a 29-point lead for its largest lead of the game.
Susquehanna rallied late in the game, scoring 13 of the last 15 points in the contest to trim the lead to 18 for the final margin of victory at 73-55.
Walsh led the River Hawks with 16 points and Ryan Traub was the only other Susquehanna player in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds. Zach Knecht led the team with eight rebounds.
Susquehanna wraps up its four-game home stand with a Landmark contest against Moravian Saturday at 2 p.m. in Houts Gymnasium.
