Box Score Courtney Adams was the only player to score in double figures as she netted 13 points for the Susquehanna University Women's Basketball team in a 67-41 loss Wednesday night to Catholic University in a Landmark Conference game in the Raymond A DuFour Center in Washington, DC.
Adams made a basket in the first half of the opening quarter for Susquehanna (7-10 Overall, 2-5 Landmark) to tie the score at 8-8 three minutes into the contest but Catholic (13-5, 4-3) scored 10 of the next 12 points to take an 18-10 lead and led 20-12 at the first break.
In the second quarter, the Cardinals started with a 10-2 run to extend the lead and had a 14-point advantage at 36-22 at halftime.
Adams netted all five points for the River Hawks in the first nine minutes of the third quarter as Catholic continued to build on its lead and held a 50-27 lead late in the period before Erin McQuillen and Nevin Hoenninger made baskets in the final minute to trim the lead down to 54-31 at the third quarter break.
Adams, McQuillen and Megan McFadden all scored early in the fourth quarter but Catholic maintained its lead and went on to post the 67-41 win.
Adams finished with 13 points while McQuillen ended up with nine points, 10 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds and two steals.
The River Hawks return home and will play three of their next four games in Houts Gymnasium starting with Moravian at 4 p.m. Saturday.
