Box Score Hannah Lyons had 14 kills and
Lindsey Pugh had 35 assists while
Sydney Portale and
Kody Dillon added eight kills apiece as the Susquehanna University Volleyball team defeated Landmark Conference foe Moravian College in three sets Wednesday evening in Bethlehem.
The River Hawks (12-7 overall, 2-1 Landmark) took the match 25-13, 25-21, 25-21 in the sweep.
Tied in the first set at six, the River Hawks were able to score seven straight points on their way to a 25-13 win. Lyons and
Brooke Lacesa highlighted the team's run over the middle stages of the set.
The second set was much tighter, as the Greyhounds (8-13, 0-3) led 15-13 before another run by the River Hawks to gain momentum and control of the set. The team scored five straight points on a series of service aces and attack errors by the Greyhounds.
Moravian trimmed a once 22-16 lead down to 24-21, but he River Hawks ended the set on a kill by Lacesa and look a two sets to zero lead.
The third set was equally tight, but this time the River Hawks lead throughout and cemented the win. The Greyhounds trailed by as many as six points, but were able to close within two points of the River Hawks on two separate occasions.
Lizzie Herestofa closed out the match with a service ace and the River Hawks improved to 2-1 in Landmark Conference play.
Susquehanna continues play Saturday when it takes on Wesley College and Cabrini in Radnor. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
