Seth Callahan Sets School Record in Win at Drew

Box Score

Junior guard Seth Callahan scored a career-high 38 points including a school-record 12 3-pointers as the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team avenged an earlier loss to Drew University with a 90-72 victory over the Rangers in a Landmark Conference game Saturday in New Jersey.

Callahan scored 23 points in the first half as Susquehanna (9-13 overall, 6-6 Landmark) took an early 55-33 lead at the halftime break. Drew (16-7, 9-3) had won the previous meeting 98-65 in Selinsgrove January 20.

The River Hawks scored 16 of the first 21 points with an early run that included a pair of Callahan 3-pointers to set the tone early in the contest.

Drew battled back and trimmed the lead to 29-25 with seven and a half minutes to play in the period before Susquehanna took off on a 21-6 run to take a commanding lead as the teams entered the intermission.

In the second half, the teams traded baskets early but Callahan hit four 3-pointers in a span of three minutes near the middle of the half to stretch the lead for the River Hawks and Susquehanna cruised to the victory.

The win moves Susquehanna into sixth place in the conference standings and just a win out of a fourth place tie with two games remaining in the regular season. The River Hawks close the season with home games against Scranton Wednesday and Elizabethtown next Saturday.

Callahan's career-high led the River Hawks while Bryce Butler and Ryan Traub each scored 14 points and Zach Knecht added 10 points. Tyler Hoagland scored six points to clear the 500 career-points milestone and added a career-best 13 assists as he moved into seventh place on the career assists list at Susquehanna with his 351st career helper.
