Box Score Brooke Klair and Gabi Toohey each scored twice for the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team, but the River Hawks fell to Lebanon Valley College 13-6 on Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field in Annville, Pa.
The Dutchmen (1-1) opened with a goal just over a minute into the contest, but Klair answered right back with an unassisted goal for Susquehanna (0-2) less than a minute later.
Lebanon Valley responded with four straight goals over the next four minutes to take a 5-1 lead.
Toohey then scored a man-up goal on an assist from Klair and followed it up with an unassisted goal to bring the River Hawks within two at 5-3 with 19 minutes left in the opening half.
Following two more goals by Lebanon Valley, Kathrina DeMaio scored with 17:30 remaining to chip into the Dutchmen lead.
Leading 7-4, Lebanon Valley scored five unanswered goals through the end of the first half and the first 19 minutes of the second period to take a commanding lead.
Klair scored her second goal of the day in a man-down situation to stem the tide. Following another goal by Lebanon Valley, Christine Hoerman would net the last goal of the game to make the score 13-6.
Libby Dex made 13 saves in goal and picked up six groundballs for the River Hawks. Victoria Lombardi recovered three groundballs.
Klair finished with three points, with her second straight game having two goals and an assist. Toohey finished with two points on her two goals.
Susquehanna travels to Western Maryland for a matchup with Frostburg State at 1 p.m. Saturday.
