Men's Tennis Edges Catholic for Third Straight Win

Alexander Dove, Alexander Cocolas and Ashton Collins each won a pair of matches to lead the Susquehanna University Men's Tennis team to a 5-4 victory over Catholic University in a Landmark Conference match Saturday afternoon in Washington DC.

Dove and Cocolas won an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles while Collins and Nicholas Meale posted a 9-8 (8-6 tie-break) victory at No. 3 doubles as Susquehanna (8-3 overall, 3-1 Landmark) took an early lead.

Catholic (3-10, 0-3) opened singles play with a win at No. 1 but the River Hawks scored victories at No. 2 and No. 3 with Dove posting 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Cocolas winning a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) match at No. 3.

The Cardinals won both the No. 4 and No. 5 singles matches but Collins rebounded from a first-set loss to win 6-4 and 6-3 in the last two sets to clinch the victory.

The River Hawks are scheduled to play Penn St. Altoona at 2 p.m. Sunday.
