Justin Miller tied the game with an RBI single in the fifth inning and was one of six players to record a hit for the Susquehanna University Baseball team but the River Hawks surrendered three runs in the seventh and another in the eighth as Elizabethtown won the third game of the Landmark Conference series with a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium in Elizabethtown.
Elizabethtown (11-15 Overall, 5-5 Landmark) struck first in the bottom of the third inning on a two-out base hit with a runner on third base to take an early 1-0 lead.
The River Hawks (12-18, 6-6) came back in the top of the fifth inning to even the score at one. Peter Yarem led off the inning with a walk. After Anthony Dombrowski hit a sacrifice bunt to move Yarem into scoring position, Miller hit a single to right centerfield to bring him home.
Ryan Beckwith was sharp into the seventh inning, but he walked his final two batters before he was lifted from the game. The two runners eventually came around to score, so Beckwith finished with 6 ⅓ innings pitched allowing three runs and recording eight strikeouts.
The Blue Jays scored three times in the inning and added another run in the eighth to cement the 5-1 win.
The River Hawks were able to put runners in scoring position in five of their nine turns to bat including a bases loaded opportunity with two outs in the third inning but could not plate the runners.
