Senior Rob Johnson improved his score by 15 strokes Monday for the Susquehanna University Men's Golf team on the second day of competition at the National Collegiate Invitational at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic. Pa. The strong finish helped the River Hawks to an 11th place finish overall in the two-day event.
Johnson recovered from a 97 on Sunday to fire a team-low round of 82 Monday. He finished with three pars and a birdie on the back nine for a 42. On the front nine, he recorded four pars and five bogies for a 40 on the par 71, 6,308 yard course.
Chris Bouchard shaved eight strokes off his Sunday score to finish with an 84 and a team-best two-day total of 176. Johnson was second on the team with his 179 and Logan Kern, who led the team Sunday with an 89, finished third with a 181.
Brandon Cassidy was 10 strokes better Monday and finished with a round of 88 and a two-day score of 186 while Morgan Fisher took 16 strokes off his Sunday score and rounded out the Susquehanna golfers scored with an event 200 for the event.
The River Hawks will next compete in the Landmark Conference Championships May 4-5 at Scranton.
