Katherina DeMaio scored three times and assisted on another goal for the Susquehanna University Women's Lacrosse team but the River Hawks dropped a 13-8 decision Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup with Marywood University in the final home game of the season on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.
Susquehanna (4-8) got off to a quick start as Gabi Toohey scored a pair of goals in the first three minutes of the contest but both goals were waived off due to an illegal stick call.
Marywood (10-6) answered with five consecutive goals to take the early lead.
DeMaio netted a pair of free-position shots to stop the scoring run and Stephanie Dowling added another goal on a free-position shot to trim the lead to 5-3.
The Pacers scored three times in the final three minutes to take an 8-3 lead into the intermission.
Marywood regained control scoring four of the next five goals including two man-up goals for the final score.
DeMaio led the River Hawks offense with four points and Klair added two goals and an assist. Libby Dex had six ground balls, two caused turnovers and made 12 saves.
The River Hawks close out the season on the road Saturday at Drew in a 1 p.m. Landmark Conference game.
