Box Score Craig Roumes and Steve Lorenz had three hits each and three other players had two hits apiece as the Susquehanna University Baseball team hammered out 15 hits on its way to a 7-3 win Thursday afternoon at Keystone College on Christy Mathewson Field in La Plume.
Roumes finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in while Lorenz connected on 3-for-5 with a run and two RBI to pace Susquehanna (6-12).
Keystone (12-6) scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning but the River Hawks answered back with two in the top of the second to take the lead.
With two outs in the second inning, Roumes singled to start a rally for Susquehanna. He stole second and then came in to score as Lorenz doubled to center. Ryan Casey followed with a single to left that scored Lorenz for the go-ahead run.
The score remained 2-1 until the sixth inning when scored another two runs to extend the lead.
With two outs in the sixth and runners on second and third, Roumes singled down the line to score both runners for a 4-1 lead.
In the seventh, Tom Giaimo and Justin Miller hit back-to-back doubles to score two more runs as the River Hawks surged to a 6-1 lead.
In the eighth, Roumes opened the inning with a double and scored when Lorenz singled as Susquehanna took a 7-1 lead.
Keystone answered with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the inning as they took advantage two hits and two errors to score the runs.
The River Hawks used six pitchers as John Cooley tossed to hitless innings early in the game to earn the win and Bobby Grigas to pitch the final inning with two strike outs.
Susquehanna is scheduled to return to Landmark Conference play with a three-game series at home against Moravian starting with a doubleheader Saturday and finishing with a single game Sunday.
