Box Score 2 Junior Jackie Gore tied the school record for career home runs with her 15th career homer for the Susquehanna University Softball team but it was not enough to stop Moravian College as the River Hawks dropped both games of the doubleheader in Landmark Conference play Saturday at Bethlehem
Moravian (17-3 overall, 6-0) won the opener 11-3 and took the nightcap with an 8-1 victory. Susquehanna had won seven straight games before Saturday.
Gore tied the career record in the fifth inning for Susquehanna (12-8, 2-2) with a leadoff solo home run to cut the Moravian lead to 5-3.
The Greyhounds answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a seven-run lead and then finished the game with a run in the bottom of the following inning.
Gore was 2-for-2 with a double and a home run to lead the River Hawks in the opener.
In game two, Susquehanna scored first to take the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning.
Brooke Kohler hit a one out single and moved to second base on a ground out before scoring on a McKayla Brady single to center field.
The lead held until the fourth inning when Moravian scored three runs to take the lead. They added three more in the fifth and two in the sixth for the final score.
Emilie Boman was 2-for-3 while Brady, Kasey Bost, Kohler and pinch hitter Brittany Hebda each added hits.
The River Hawks return to action Tuesday vs. Scranton for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
