Box Score 2 Kasey Bost had a solo homerun while Jackie Gore, Heather Pearson and Emily Lear had two hits apiece in the doubleheader, but the Susquehanna University softball team fell in game one 5-1 and dropped game two by a score of 3-0 against Gettysburg College Tuesday afternoon at Bobby Jones Field in Gettysburg.
In game one the River Hawks (26-14) were able to load the bases with one out in the top of the first inning but were unable to capitalize on their best scoring opportunity in the game.
After Gettysburg (21-16) scored a run in the bottom of the second inning to take the early 1-0 lead, but Bost hit a solo homerun in the top of the third to knot up the score.
The Generals scored a run in the bottom of the inning and added three more in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach as the River Hawks were held hitless in the final four innings of play.
In game two, the bats were held silent again, as the team produced two hits. Brooke Wiarda threw four innings and relinquished two runs in the 3-0 loss.
Susquehanna's defense stayed sharp and did not commit an error as the team gets ready for Landmark Conference Tournament play.
Amanda Seckinger threw two innings in relief while giving up one earned run to complete the game.
The River Hawks goes into the Landmark Tournament as the #3 seed and will take on #2 Scranton Thursday at 1 p.m. The tournament will be played at Moravian College.
