In the championship game of the Connie Harnum Classic Saturday, the Susquehanna University Field Hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Franklin and Marshall College on Sassafras Field in Selinsgrove.

The Diplomats (2-0), ranked No. 4 in the national preseason poll, scored twice in the first half with the frist goal coming off a penalty corner play and the second as a result of a penalty stroke.

In the second half, the Diplomats added an insurance goal with 19 minutes left in the contest.

Susquehanna (1-1) battled back to force some pressure in the offensive zone but the Franklin and Marshall defense held up to post its second shutout win of the tournament to claim the team championship.

Hunter Pitman, who scored twice Friday, along with Gabby Martin and Valerie Erickson were named to the All-Tournament team for the River Hawks.

Susquehanna will play at Swarthmore Wednesday night and return home Sept. 8 to face King's in a 1 p.m. non-conference game.
