Kyle Trainor was able to score the lone goal for the River Hawks on a pass from Dakota Dobrovich-Fago in the 34th minute from the top of the box to give the team an early edge, but Ursinus was able to equalize the score late in a 1-1 draw for the Susquehanna University Men's Soccer team Saturday afternoon on Patterson Field in Ursinus.
The River Hawks (0-3-1) struck first over halfway through the first half when Trainor fired a shot into the left corner of the net on a feed from Dobrovich-Fago.
The Bears (0-2-1) held the shots advantage in the first 45 minutes by a count of 5-3.
Susquehanna kept its momentum going into the second half when the River Hawks were awarded a penalty kick in the 52nd minute but were unable to convert on the attempt.
Ursinus answered with a goal in the 76th minute on a shot that found the lower left corner of the net.
The game continued into overtime and neither team could capitalize on its opportunities so the sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
Alex Graul led the team with four shots, followed by Noah Carles with three. Kyle Speckhart had five saves in net.
The River Hawks continue non-conference play at 4 p.m. Wednesday with a road game against Lebanon Valley in Annville, Pennsylvania.
