How It Happened
- Sophomore forward Alanna Connolly (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon) tallied the game's opening basket for Susquehanna's only lead of the game. Then the Royals used an 18-8 run to post an eight-point advantage behind a 12-2 margin in the paint and six points from Sofia Recupero.
- Scranton only edged the River Hawks, 11-8, in the second quarter for a 29-18 halftime advantage. Back-to-back layups by sophomores Madi Welliver (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) and Nevin Hoenninger (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) helped to cut the deficit to 20-14 at 7:02.
- Six points from McQuillen allowed SU to keep pace with the nationally-ranked Royals, who won the third stanza, 18-12. Freshman forward Olivia Brandt (Bethlehem, Pa./Notre Dame) trimmed the lead to 38-27 at 3:49, capping a 9-3 run, before Scranton headed into the fourth with a 17-point margin in its favor.
- A 23-point explosion in the fourth quarter put the game away for the Royals, who rebounded from their first loss of the season on January 26.
