Field Hockey Falls to Catholic in OT

Box Score SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior captain Hunter Pitman (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood) was the lone goal scorer for River Hawks in the 2-1 overtime loss to Catholic on Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • After a tie in regulation, Meghan Shallow scored the game winning goal in the first overtime period.
  • The Cardinals struck first, but not until the third quarter of play when Kelly Cancelmo found the back of the cage off an assist from Julia Scanlon.
  • The River Hawks answered back with just under four minutes to play in regulation. Senior Heather Casey (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) moved the goalie and got a pass off to Pitman who found the back of the cage to force overtime.  
  • The Cardinals scored in the overtime period to win the game 2-1.

  • The River Hawks outshot Catholic 11-8 as SU was able to make four shots on goal to the Cardinals five.
  • Susquehanna forced 11 penalty corners while holding the Cardinals to just three.
