Dobrovich-Fago Tallies First of 2019 as River Hawk Men’s Soccer Falls to Goucher

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior midfielder Dakota Dobrovich-Fago (Wall, N.J./Wall) tallied his first goal of the 2019 campaign Saturday afternoon but the Susquehanna University men's soccer team came up short in Landmark Conference action. Susquehanna (4-10-0, 0-4-0 LC) dropped a 1-0 decision to the visiting Goucher College Gophers (3-10-1, 1-2-1 LC) for its second loss in a row.

How It Happened
  • Goucher struck first in the fifth minute as Brandon Cohen took advantage of confusion within the River Hawk defensive line and tapped in a loose ball right in front of the goal line.
  • The River Hawks notched the equalizer in the 21st minute when Dobrovich-Fago tapped in a cross from the right from junior forward Chris Naiman (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.).
  • The Gophers edged Susquehanna, 6-5, in shots but SU posted a 3-0 margin in corner kicks in the first half. The two teams headed into the intermission knotted at 1-1.
  • Matthew Malhenzie's first goal of the season in the 67th minute would prove to be difference as Malhenzie broke free and fired off a shot which bounced up and behind a diving senior Matt Ellingworth (Sparta, N.J./Lenape Valley).
  • Susquehanna was awarded a penalty kick in the 71st minute but Joe May denied Dobrovich-Fago's attempt.

  • Susquehanna outshot the Gophers, 14-12 (6-10 SOG), as the River Hawks tallied a 9-6 shot advantage in the second half.
