Volleyball Sweeps No. 7 Wisconsin Whitewater and Saint Mary’s (IN)

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ATLANTA Ga. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team picked up two wins against No. 7 Wisconsin Whitewater and Saint Mary's Saturday at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta Georgia.

How It Happened
  • The River Hawks (26-4) took down the University of Wisconsin Whitewater (21-5) for a 3-0 victory.
  • In the first set, Susquehanna dominated the Warhawks 25-16, putting up 15 kills Wisconsin's nine.
  • SU was able to take set two 25-15, with 12 kills and a .235 attack percentage.
  • The River Hawks had to work past a tough Warhawk defense in the third set but came out victorious with a 25-23 set victory.

  • Sydney Portale (Glen Mils, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Rosina Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) lead the match in kills with 11 each.  
  • Lizzie Herestofa (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley)  and Caroline Beohm (Lancaster, Pa. / Garden Spot) lead the team in digs with eight a piece.    
  • Veronica Kirchner (Drexel Hill, Pa. / Monsignor Bonner-Prendergast) had a match best four blocks.  
  • Wisconsin Whitewater's leaders were Emily Gillen and Erin McNeil with seven kills each and Morgan Jensen with 11 digs.

How It Happened
  • The River Hawks claimed the 3-0 against the Saint Mary's Belles in match two.  
  • Susquehanna took down the Belles in the first set 25-13, recording 13 kills.
  • The River Hawks edged past Saint Mary's in set two 25-21 scoring on 16 kills to SMC's eight.
  • SU dominated the third set taking down the Belles 25-14, recording 17 kills and a .294 attack percentage.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
  • Esposito again led the team in kills with 13 while Riley O'Dowd (Montville, Nj. / Morris Catholic) and Portale were also in double digits with 12 and 10 respectively.
  • Kasey Bost (Eldersburg, Md. / Liberty) and Herestofa each collected a match-best 12 digs and Beohm had three service aces.
  • Megan Collantes and Nicole Lukens lead Saitn Mary's in kills with six while Lukens also recorded a team-best nine digs.
