How It Happened
First Quarter
- Dickinson went only 31 yards on nine plays on its first possession thanks to a pair of holding penalties and a Roumes sack for a loss of seven yards.
- Sophomore kicker Elijah Hoffman (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) put the River Hawks on the scoreboard first with a 35-yard field goal, capping a six-play, 50-yard drive on SU's first possession of the night.
- The Red Devils responded on their second possession of the night as Robert Geiss completed a 33-yard strike to Daniel Salamone to take a 7-3 lead with 1:34 left in the quarter.
- Susquehanna's final drive of the quarter was a three-and-out.
Second Quarter
- The Red Devils struck first in the second quarter when Trystin Golowski knocked in a 27-yard field goal at the end of a 12-play, 47-yard drive for a 10-3 Dickinson advantage.
- SU answered right back, using four plays to knot the game at 10-10 with nine minutes left in the half as Christian grabbed a 39-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Michael Ruisch (Fogelsville, Pa./Parkland).
- Each side went three-and-out on their next possession before Roumes ran back a 44-yard pick-6, intercepting Geiss on 2nd and 10 and giving the River Hawks a 17-10 lead at 5:02.
- It was another three-and-out for Dickinson on its next possession. The Red Devils were 0-for-4 on third-down conversions in the quarter, finishing 1-for-6 for the half.
- Susquehanna drove 56 yards on its last drive of the half but Hoffman's 37-yard attempt missed wide left.
Third Quarter
- Roumes was all over Dickinson's first possession of the second half as he hurried Geiss into an incomplete pass on 2nd and 12 and then strip sacked Geiss for a loss of 11 yards, recovering the fumble at the Dickinson 35. However, the River Hawks could not capitalize as their drive never got off the ground, going -1 yard in three plays.
- Golowski missed wide right on a 29-yard field goal and then Susquehanna went three-and-out with three incomplete passes.
- A kick catching interference penalty gave the Red Devils a short field as they started on the Susquehanna 32 and then a pass interference call on 3rd and 8 extended the drive, allowing Jeremy Walsh to rush into the end zone from four yards out for the equalizer following Golowski's good extra point.
- The deadlock didn't last long as the River Hawks countered with a touchdown of their own, completing a three-play, 65-yard drive. Junior running back Da'Avian Ellington (Carteret, N.J./Woodbridge) rushed a total of 24 yards on the first two plays of the drive before Christian outreached and outjumped three defenders to haul in a 41-yard pass from Ruisch. Following Hoffman's good point after, SU lead 24-17 with 2:01 left in the third.
Fourth Quarter
- No scoring in the final quarter for either team.
- A 10-yard holding penalty stalled Dickinson's first possession before going three-and-out on its final drive of the game.
- The River Hawks turned the ball over on downs on their first possession while working the clock with six run plays. A personal foul on Dickinson on a 3rd and 10 sealed the win for Susquehanna as SU called timeout at 1:18 and then took a knee on its final two plays for the win.
