SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University volleyball team beat the Royals of the University of Scranton Wednesday night, right here in the O.W. Houts Gymnasium, in the Landmark Conference Semi-finals. This wins no only earns the River Hawks a spot in the championship match against the Juniata College Eagles, but also a home match to fight for the conference title.
Susquehanna 3, Scranton 0
How It Happened
- The River Hawks (31-5) were able to combine for 41 kills to Scranton's (15-18) 27, to claim a 3-0 victory.
- In the first set, Susquehanna dominated the Royals in the 25-12 set victory. The River Hawks recorded 12 kills and .308 attack percentage.
- SU again took set two 25-17 as they tallied 14 kills to Scranton's 10.
- Scranton was unable to defend the River Hawks offense during the third set, falling to SU 25-17.
- Coach Kuuipo Tom commented after the match, "It's always great to play at home and to win in front of our fans, but this one was exponentially more important than any other that we've played in O.W. Houts. This win brings us home to host the conference championship and affords us the opportunity to have all of our fans right here on Saturday when we compete in that final. It's going to be an incredible day for Susquehanna Women as all three of our team sports will be competing for conference championships. Make no mistake about it, none of this happens without the great support of our fans and administration nor without the vision and dedication of our alumni who worked tirelessly in that gym knowing that they were blazing a path for others to follow. Without them, we don't get the level players that we currently have in the gym. Without them, there is no vision for their…and our…future. "SU-You know!"
