SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Third-seeded University of Scranton used three different scorers Saturday afternoon to capture its conference-leading seventh Landmark Conference Women's Soccer Championship title Saturday afternoon at Sassafras Field. Scranton (11-5-3) broke a scoreless draw with three goals in the second half to knock off top-seeded and defending Landmark champion, Susquehanna University (14-4-2).
Today's match marked the fourth consecutive time (and fourth overall) that Susquehanna and the Royals faced off in the conference playoffs. In 2016, Scranton bested the River Hawks in the semifinals, 1-0 in overtime, on its way to the title. The following year, the Royals posted a 2-0 decision for their second straight crown. SU then snapped Scranton's title streak last season, collecting the program's first-ever league title 5-4 on penalty kicks.
With today's victory, Scranton claims the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. The River Hawks will have to wait until Monday to see if they receive an at-large bid when the bracket is announced at 1:00 p.m. at
