Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team erased two early deficits to come away with a solid non-conference team win Wednesday afternoon. Susquehanna (5-6) posted a 14-11 victory over Misericordia University (3-4) as four different River Hawks tallied their first points of the season.

How It Happened
- Misericordia, who entered the game averaging 15.83 goals per game (Top 20 in Division III), jumped out to a 3-0 lead at 11:30, including Garrett Heidecker scoring one seven seconds in off the face-off.
- The River Hawks responded with four straight to claim a one-goal advantage with 30 seconds left in the first period. Senior midfielder Jack Donnelly (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) notched a goal and an assist in the 4-0 run. Patrick Luzzi struck again for his second of the day with nine ticks on the clock to send the Cougars into the second frame with a one-goal margin.
- The two sides alternated the first four goals before sophomore attackman Colton Dick (Owings, Md./Northern) broke the 6-6 draw with his second of the afternoon with under a minute to go in the half. SU took a 7-6 lead into halftime.
- Susquehanna stretched its lead to three before a two-minute penalty led MU to cut the lead to 9-8 at 8:17 with a pair of man-up goals from Nick Torzilli and Luzzi. Back-to-back goals by Dick capped a 3-0 run and widened the River Hawks' lead to 12-8 with one more quarter to play.
- The Cougars outscored the hosts, 3-2, in the fourth for the 14-11 final. Freshman attackman Jack McLaughlin (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) scored both for SU.
Inside the Box Score
- Misericordia outshot the River Hawks, 57-43, but senior captain Dylan Abplanalp (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) posted 18 saves, his seventh double-digit save performance of the season, to keep the Cougars at bay.
- MU also edged Susquehanna, 33-32, despite career-highs of seven ground balls for both Abplanalp and junior long-stick midfielder Jacob Fox (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield).
- Garrett Rogers went 9-of-13 and Heidecker finished 8-of-15 to lead the Cougars to a 17-of-29 effort at face-off X.
Top Performers
- Dick finished the game with a season-best four goals and two assists to go along with two ground balls while Donnelly contributed three goals and an assist.
- McLaughlin chipped in his first career hat trick while senior captain Jake Smolokoff (Oceanport, N.J./Red Bank Regional) also had a multiple-point day with two assists.
- Luzzi ended the game with a game-high eight points on six goals and two helpers.
