Susquehanna Men’s Lacrosse Wins Third Straight on Senior Day as Dick Nabs Milestone

Selinsgrove, Pa. – Sophomore attackman Colton Dick (Owings, Md./Northern) not only collected his 100th career point Saturday afternoon but also netted the game-winning goal as the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team picked up their third consecutive victory on Senior Day. Susquehanna (7-6, 2-1 LC) rallied from a four-goal deficit to earn a 10-9 Landmark Conference win over Moravian College (7-4, 1-2 LC).

How It Happened
  • Austin Adams netted a man-up goal with 8:28 remaining in the game to give Moravian a 9-7 advantage. The River Hawks then took over, scoring the game's final three goals for the come-from-behind triumph.
  • Senior midfielder Jack Gerrity (Scotch Plains-Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) ignited the rally with an unassisted goal at 7:24 to bring Susquehanna within one. A little bit under two minutes later, senior captain Jake Smolokoff (Oceanport, N.J./Red Bank Regional) netted the equalizer with his second of the day to set up the stage for Dick's heroics.
  • Dick picked up his 32nd tally of the season with 13.9 seconds on the clock, firing in the game-winner from the ground after slipping as he came around the crease.
  • SU opened up the contest with a 2-0 lead before the Greyhounds rattled off six unanswered goals to own a 6-2 advantage at halftime.
  • After trading goals to start off the third quarter, the River Hawks put up three straight as senior midfielder Jack Donnelly (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) and Dick teamed up for two of them. The 3-0 run helped the home team close the gap to 7-6 at 3:23 of the third quarter.
  • Moravian regained a two-goal cushion (9-7) by scoring two of the next three.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Moravian outshot the River Hawks, 38-29, and won the ground ball battle, 34-28, as Rich Guerra scooped up a game-best seven loose balls.
  • The Greyhounds controlled the face-offs as Guerra won 14-of-23; however, sophomore midfielder Ryan Bucher (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) picked up the most important face-off of the game as Bucher claimed the ensuing face-off after Dick's game-winning goal.
  • Susquehanna scored on two of their three extra-man opportunities.
 
Top Performers
  • Dick tallied a game-high six points on three goals and three assists while Donnelly finished with his third consecutive hat trick, contributing three scores. Smolokoff ended the day with two goals and one helper.
  • Senior defenseman Dan Murphy (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) helped to make his Senior Day memorable with five ground balls and a season-best three caused turnovers.
  • Senior captain Dylan Abplanalp (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island) notched his eight double-digit save performance of the season with 11 stops while chipping in four ground balls.
  • Connor Hull paced the Greyhounds with three goals and an assist while Kurt Dick came up with seven stops and three ground balls.
