ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Sophomore forward
Edward Lynch (Green Township, N.J./Newton) netted his second of the season Saturday afternoon but the Susquehanna University men's soccer team came up short in their Landmark Conference opener. Susquehanna (2-7-0, 0-1-0 LC) lost 3-1 to the host Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (5-3-1, 1-0-0 LC).

How It Happened
- The Blue Jays struck first late in the first half as JD Haaf converted a penalty kick 30:56 for his first goal of the afternoon.
- Shots were 3-2 in favor of Etown while the River Hawks owned a 2-0 margin in corner kicks as SU headed into halftime down 1-0.
- Elizabethtown went up 2-0 in the 80th minute when Eli Perry found the back of the net for his first of the season.
- Susquehanna cut the deficit in half when junior Kyle Trainor (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Twp.) sent in a corner kick and junior captain Pat Bresney (Andover, N.J./Newton) flicked over to Lynch for the finish at 83:26.
- A minute and 20 seconds later, the Blue Jays added an insurance goal when Haaf notched his team-leading fifth score of the season.
- The River Hawks controlled the offensive statistics in the second half as well with a 7-5 shot advantage and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks but Kelvin Del Cid played big for Etown, collecting five second-half saves.
