Box Score River Hawk Field Hockey Falls in Overtime

Hunter Pitman (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood) was able to score in the second period off an assist from junior defender
Gabby Martin (Green Lane Pa. / Upper Perkiomen) but the Susquehanna University field hockey team dropped a tough 2-1 overtime decision to Swarthmore College Thursday evening in the non-conference match up.

How It Happened
- Swarthmore claimed the sudden victory with four minutes left to play as Marion Carr found the back of the cage for the Garnet's first win of the season.
- The River Hawks were able to score in the second period as Pitman crushed the back of the cage off a pass up the middle from Martin.
- The Garnet's only goal in regulation came from a penalty stroke in the 58th-minute scored by Samantha Meacock.
- Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of regulation as senior goalkeeper Emily DiGaetano (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) made three stops over the final quarter on six shots faced, forcing the game into sudden victory overtime.
