WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team opened up the 2020 campaign Saturday afternoon on the wrong side of a season-opening loss. Junior captain
Colton Dick (Owings, Md./Northern) kicked off his junior year with a hat trick as Susquehanna (0-1) dropped an 11-7 decision to the host Lycoming College Warriors (1-0) in non-conference action.

How It Happened
- Susquehanna jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 6:05 of the game as Dick scored an unassisted goal at 13:43 before finishing off a pass from senior attackman Michael Hatala (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) for a man-up goal at 8:55.
- It was the Warrior show after Dick's first two goals as Lycoming rattled off five unanswered goals, including three straight off the stick of Dominick Massaro for a three-goal Warrior lead with 3:01 remaining in the first half.
- Hatala then found the back of the net with one second on the clock to send the River Hawks into halftime down only 5-3.
- First-year midfielder Victor Simone (Belvidere, N.J./Notre Dame) pulled SU within one with his first collegiate goal – an unassisted score – at 13:25.
- Lycoming notched the next two goals to rebuild a three-goal advantage with 9:58 left in the third quarter.
- The River Hawks netted two of the next three goals to close the gap to 8-6 at 3:26 as Hatala had a man-up goal and an assist to help the team keep pace.
- The Warriors tacked on three more goals, with Massaro assisting on two, to boast an 11-6 advantage with 7:28 to go in the game.
- Susquehanna scored one goal on eight shots the rest of the way while turning the ball over twice.

Top Performers
- Dick was the scoring leader for the River Hawks with three goals and an assist while Hatala tallied four points on two goals and a career-best two assists.
- Senior captain Jacob Fox (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) paced the defense, which held the Warriors scoreless on four extra man opportunities, with five ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Senior Josh Weaver (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) made a career-best 17 stops in his first career start as Weaver spent 45 minutes between the pipes. Junior captain Tyler Gross (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) finished the game with five saves in the final 15 minutes.
- Massaro matched Dick's goal output with three goals while adding two assists to lead all players with five points. Justin Joseph won 15-of-19 face-offs and Cameron Kuzniar turned away 15 shots in the Warriors' season-opening win.
