SAN JUAN, P.R. – With her third save of the game, senior captain
Libby Dex (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) notched her 500th career save Thursday morning down in Puerto Rico. The Susquehanna University women's lacrosse team (3-4), however, lost their third straight as the River Hawks' rally fell short in an 18-15 loss to Wheaton (Mass.) College (4-1) in their final game at Puerto Rico Clasico.

How It Happened
- After sophomore attacker Caroline Chase (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) put Susquehanna on the board first just 35 seconds in, the Lyons rattled off seven in a row to lead by six at 20:18.
- Senior midfielder Christine Hoerman (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown) was a speed bump to Wheaton's runaway offense as Hoerman netted the River Hawks' second goal of the game at 19:01.
- Kyra Schwartzman scored two more for Wheaton before SU received back-to-back goals from senior attackers Stephanie Dowling (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) and Gabi Toohey (Oradell, N.J./River Dell) to cut the lead to 9-4 at 10:25.
- The Lyons tallied two of the first half's final three goals to stake an 11-5 advantage at halftime.
- Susquehanna opened up the second stanza by scoring five of the first six goals, including a goal and an assist each from Chase and junior Nicole Hauck (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon), to pull within 12-10 21:48.
- Schwartzman led a 3-1 run for Wheaton with two goals to build its margin to 15-11 at 12:56.
- The two sides alternated scoring for the next four tallies before the River Hawks found the back of net with two straight from Hauck and junior Alison Heimer (State College, Pa./State College) to close the gap to two again with 4:01 left in the game.
- In the final four minutes, the River Hawks were held to one shot and one turnover.

Top Performers
- Chase paced the River Hawks in the game with a season-best four goals plus an assist for five points while Toohey finished with three goals (15th career hat trick) and a helper for four points.
- Dowling and Hauck each scored twice while Dowling added a pair of assists for four points.
- Dex now has 510 career saves following her 13-save performance today. She grabbed a season-best six ground balls and caused a career-best three turnovers.
- Sophomore Mary Vilardi (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) led the defense with a career-high four caused turnovers to go along with two ground balls.
- Senior defender Mel Barracato (Flanders, N.J./Pope John XXIII) and sophomore midfielder Katie Hoerman (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown) each gained five draw controls to help SU to a 19-16 margin in draw controls.
- Schwartzman ended the morning with game-bests of 10 draw controls and nine goals as the Lyons earned their fourth win of the season.
