SELINSGROVE, PA (November 11, 2021) -- On the eve of Susquehanna University volleyball's third trip to the NCAA Tournament, two of its key contributors were honored for the second time each as senior Lizzie Herestofa and junior Rosina Esposito were selected as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region 5 performers as released by the coaches association Thursday. 

Herestofa picked up All-Region for the second time in her career after being named as the Landmark Conference Libero of the Year for the second season in a row after another stellar season in the maroon and orange. Herestofa is currently the Landmark Conference leader in digs with 564 on the season and is seven digs away from 2,000 for her career. She also leads the conference with 5.53 digs per set and is the team leader in service aces, accumulating 45 over the season so far.

Herestofa has tallied 97 assists this season as well, fulfilling her role as a jack of all trades. Against Babson College in mid-October, the Glen Mills, PA native notched a career-high 43 digs while also adding eight assists and three service aces. 

Esposito was named to the All-Landmark Conference First Team at Outside Hitter for the second season in a row after following up her rookie season with a strong junior campaign. After winning Rookie of the Year in 2019, Esposito finished second in the conference in kills (358), third in kills per set (3.54), second in points (410.5), and third in points per set (4.1) during the 2021 season.  

The junior outside hitter finished second on the team in digs with 307 on the season and accumulated 13 double-doubles on the year.  Esposito had an outstanding game against conference foe Drew recording a massive double-double finishing with 25 kills and 31 digs in the five-set match. 

The River Hawks have now had 15 players in program history that have been named to the AVCA All-Region squads. These two along with Lindsey Pugh were honored back in 2019, and now-Johns Hopkins University graduate student Sydney Portale also was selected. Portale earned 2021 honors as a member of the Blue Jays.
