SELINSGROVE, PA (November 22, 2021) -- The Susquehanna University men's basketball team shot just 31.3 percent for the game, including hitting on only six of its 24 attempts from three, falling in non-conference action to visiting Lycoming College 75-56 in play from O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
While the River Hawks (3-2) couldn't get much going offensively, the Warriors (4-2) didn't struggle from the same affliction as they managed to knock down 52.7 percent of their shots while posting 40 points in the paint. Susquehanna, playing in its fourth game in six days, managed to turn the Warriors over 22 times but got only 15 points off those miscues.
There were only two lead changes in the contest, as senior
Danny Frauenheim finished a rebound put back of a
Howie Rankine, Jr. layup to make it 4-3 in favor of the River Hawks. On the next possession, DeAundre Manuel raced down court and put the Warriors back on top with 17:37 to go in the first. That's the last lead change of the game, as Lycoming grew its advantage up to as high as 11 in the first half. The River Hawks would trim the Warrior edge down to three with 3:14 remaining in the opening stanza, but Lycoming surged back out to an eight-point lead at 36-28 at halftime.
Dyson Harward scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the first half for the Warriors. The second half wouldn't get much better unfortunately for Susquehanna, as it made just 33.3 percent from the field as Lycoming upped the spread to as much as 21 with 8:02 to go in coasting to the victory.
Senior
Lukas Yurasits finished with a team-best 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting, making five of his seven free-throw attempts, while also finishing with three steals. Junior
Dominic Dunn came off the bench to score 12 points and grab five boards, and
Wes Simons tallied eight points. Senior
Jay Martin finished with six points, six rebounds and three blocks, and first-year
Cooper Haberern added six points and three steals.
The River Hawks had 12 more shot attempts for the game due to the 22 turnovers by the Warriors, but got out-rebounded 48-28 on the night. Lycoming put five in double-figures, led by the 19 points and 14 rebounds from Harward. Mo Terry added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Steven Hamilton finished with 11 points and five assists. Matt Ilodigwe and Brendon Blackson each chipped in with 10 points apiece for Lycoming in the win.
