SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team and Moravian College combined for 30 goals and 22 penalties in a 2021 Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship quarterfinal matchup on Saturday afternoon. Fourth-seeded Susquehanna (3-8) came up on the short end of an 18-12 decision to No. 5 seed Moravian (5-6).
The Greyhounds avenged their 16-7 loss to SU last Saturday in Selinsgrove and now advances to face top-seeded The Catholic University of America in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 5. For the River Hawks, their 2021 campaign comes to an end.
How It Happened
Susquehanna looked to be on its way to its second straight win over Moravian, opening the game with a 4-0 lead at 7:11 as sophomore midfielder
Jake Turner (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) found the back of the net twice. The Greyhounds responded with a 6-1 run behind five different scorers to take a 6-5 lead into the second period.
Moravian had the hot hand to start the second with the first four goals, including three in a row from
Griffin LeBlond, to push its advantage 10-5. First-year midfielder
Dominic Contella (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) slowed down the bleeding with his second of the day with 7:05 on the clock. The Greyhounds continued to build separation with four unanswered goals to lead 14-6 with 13:05 left in the third stanza.
The River Hawks rallied with three straight goals to end the third and notch the first of the fourth, cutting the deficit to 14-10 with 11:31 remaining in the game. The two sides alternated the next two goals before Moravian tallied three in five minutes for a seven-goal advantage with 3:08 to go. Senior captain
Colton Dick (Owings, Md./Northern) scored the final goal of his career at 2:34 to wrap up the game's scoring.

Ryan Prum (Secane, Pa./Ridley) went 10-of-23 in face-offs with a team-best seven ground balls while junior long-pole midfielder
Mike Nevins (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) scooped up a career- and team-high seven ground balls with a career-best two caused turnovers.

Ted Zaborowski (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) had three caused turnovers while junior defenseman
Gavin Rossman (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West) and first-year attackman
Kobi Buffa (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) each added two caused turnovers.
Senior captain
Tyler Gross (Magnolia, Del./Caesar Rodney) made seven saves with one ground ball pick up in his final game as a River Hawk.
LeBlond and
Cade Siddron each scored four goals while
Siddron added two assists for a game-best six points.
Max Towers was 17-of-28 at the X with a game-high 10 ground balls. In goal,
Sean DeMott turned away 12 shots and had three ground balls in 52:14 minutes of action.
