River Hawks Softball Exits Landmark Championship with Loss to No. 4 Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Kiara Bryant (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) connected on her third home run of the season on Sunday but the Susquehanna University softball team's efforts came up short in a Landmark Conference Softball Championship game. The River Hawks (8-14) dropped a 10-2 season-ending decision in five innings to No. 4 and fourth-seeded Moravian College (28-0).

How It Happened
Bryant drilled a one-out two-run homer over the left field fence, scoring junior Katie Koch (West Milton, Pa./Lewisburg Area), who drew a one-out walk, for a 2-0 Susquehanna lead after one inning of play.

Moravian cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning when Maura Kane stroked a two-out single to centerfield to bring home Maddisen Bieber, who had hit a two-out double down the leftfield line.

The Greyhounds exploded for seven runs in the third inning and established a six-run cushion.

The game ended in the bottom of the fifth with two outs on board as Shannon Brogan notched a game-ending bases-loaded, two-run single to centerfield, giving Moravian the win due to the eight-run mercy rule.

Inside the Box Score
Susquehanna tallied two runs on four hits with no errors while leaving seven on base. Moravian notched 10 runs on 12 hits with no errors and stranding five runners.
