Three Second-Half Goals Push Men's Soccer Past Widener, 4-2

Box Score CHESTER, PA (September 18, 2021) -- Susquehanna University scored three second-half goals, including the game-winner in the 61st minute to push past host Widener University in men's non-conference soccer action Saturday evening.

The River Hawks (3-3) scored first in the eighth minute as Adrian Dilascio tallied unassisted after a turnover. On the play Dilascio stole a ball in the final third and then cooly chipped the keeper from the right side into the left side netting of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Widener would tie the game at 38:10 as Stefano Turano scored on a shot to the top right. After halftime, Sean Fatiga gave the Pride their first lead of the game with an unassisted tally 1:17 into the second half.

The River Hawks didn't trail for long, as Dilascio was back at it for his second of the day as he finished a loose ball in the right side of the box with a nice half-volley to the low right of the goal.

The game-winner for SU came at 60:14, as Dilascio made an incredible play to win back the ball at midfield. He then played a long ball over the backline to Max Paczewski, who gathered the ball and powered a right-footed shot under the keeper for the 3-2 lead.

Susquehanna got a little insurance with just over two minutes to play, as Paczewski made a nice move to get free down the left side and feathered a ball to the back post where Brian McKee headed it down and past a diving keeper for the goal.

Widener held a 16-11 edge on shots, though nine of Susquehanna's came on goal. The River Hawks also held a slight 6-4 lead in corner kicks. Gerrit Stech made three saves while earning the win for SU, including a breakaway save in the first half to keep the game scoreless.
