Baltimore, MD – The Susquehanna University Women's Soccer team endured their first loss of the season on Saturday evening, falling to Randolph-Macon 2-0. The loss was their second game of the John Hopkins Invitational, splitting their tournament games after winning on Saturday.
Chloe Wieczkowski ((Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown Regional) and
Gillian Maack (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances in the John Hopkins Invitational.
Wieczkowski had seven saves in two games, five in game one and two against the Yellow Jackets on Sunday, beginning her senior season with strong play.
Maack has been an integral part of the River Hawk offensive attack over her career and collected one shot on goal over the weekend.
Randolph-Macon scored both of their goals in the first half, with one from Lora Bertram at the 23
rd minute and another from Maddie Bauman in the 38
th minute off a penalty.
Susquehanna had several chances to get back in the game or get even with the Randolph-Macon. The women accrued 11 shots, outshooting their opponent 11-10, and had seven shots on goal.
However, the Yellow Jackets keepers were strong all match in net as Zoe Long collected three saves while Abby Cook had three.
Emily Wertz (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) got off five shots for the River Hawks, with three being on target, but was unable to convert any of her chances.
Anna Werner (Mohnton, PA/Governor Mifflin) had two shots, both of which were on target, but did not come out with a goal of her own.
Other Notes
- Susquehanna held the advantage in corners over the 90-minute affair, 4-3.

- The River Hawks will head to Carlisle, Pennsylvania on Wednesday in a non-conference matchup with Dickinson before returning to Selinsgrove for their home opener on September 11th against Muhlenberg.
