SELINSGROVE, PA (February 19, 2022) -- The Susquehanna University men's basketball team honored nine members of its program prior to Saturday's home regular season finale with Elizabethtown College, and followed that up by cruising to its 11th-straight victory as the River Hawks knocked off E-Town 97-72 in Landmark Conference play from O.W. Houts Gymnasium.
The River Hawks (21-4, 13-1 Landmark Conference) finish their regular season their longest winning streak since the 2016-17 season, when SU put together a 12-game win stretch. It was a great day to celebrate for Susquehanna as 13 players notched points in the victory while five seniors got into double figures. Susquehanna will host the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., taking on Juniata College for a spot in the title game Saturday.
The two teams battled early, as the squads were tied at 21 with 9:13 left in the first half after a lay-up by Jadon Green for Elizabethtown. From that point, Susquehanna went on a 29-8 run to finish the half, capped by a three-pointer by
Dominic Dunn to take a 50-29 lead into break. Susquehanna would push its lead up to as much as 35 midway through the half in rolling to the Senior Day victory.
Dunn finished with 20 points and six rebounds in the victory, going 9-for-9 from the charity stripe, while
Lukas Yurasits tallied 20 points after going 7-of-14 from the field. Senior center
Jack Van Syckle finished with 11 points, six rebounds and a steal, while
Danny Frauenheim posted 10 points and three assists.
Jay Martin was SU's fifth player in double figures, tallying 10 points, and
Howie Rankine, Jr. contributed eight points and five rebounds in 19 minutes of action. Senior
Ryan Collins came off the bench to tally five points in six minutes, and
Pat Corbett connected on his only shot of the game for three points.
Susquehanna shot 49.1 percent (27-55) from the floor, as it matched a season-low for turnovers with six.
Elizabethtown was led by Jared Archer, who scored 15 points off the bench, while Rance Russo and Dylan Rowe each added 10 points for the Blue Jays (8-16, 3-11 Landmark Conference).
