RALEIGH, NC - The Susquehanna Softball team fell in game two of their day at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic, losing 13-5 in six innings to Meredith College. The game was called after six frames due to the eight-run rule.
Susquehanna took an early three-run lead in this one, with their offense collecting 10 hits over the entire game. The first four batters reached for SU, as
Kiara Bryant drew an RBI walk to open the scoring. After back to back pop ups,
Nicole Plesh singled in two runs for the River Hawks a three run lead.
Meredith, however, answered in the second, third, and fourth innings scoring five, three, and three runs in those frame to build a strong advantage over Susquehanna. SU would tack on two more runs in separate occasions, as
Erin Bean had an RBI fly out and
Lexi Palumbo picked up an RBI single, but the offensive prowess of Meredith was too strong.Â
Overall, Susquehanna was eventually subject to the eight-run rule as the pitching for SU could not figure out the Angels offense, surrendering 13 earned runs in six innings.Â
Ashley Warner had an excellent day for the River Hawks as the junior infielder collected four hits for just the second time in her career. She had four hits last April against Drew, as the 2021Â All-Landmark Second Teamer scored a run in the loss.
Hannah Roland had her first two career extra base hits, collecting two doubles on Saturday.Â

- Susquehanna will now be back in action on Saturday, March 5th when they head to Maryland to play in a double header vs. Stevenson University beginning at 1:00 p.m.
