Elizabethtown Flies Past Men's Lacrosse Saturday

SELINSGROVE, PA (April 23, 2022) -- Visiting Elizabethtown College scored 10 first-quarter goals, using that lead to cruise to a 23-7 Landmark Conference victory over the Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team in action from Sassafras Field Saturday. 

The Blue Jays (9-6, 5-1 Landmark) jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead over the first 5:09 of the game before Chris Ciccarello tallied with the man advantage to put the River Hawks on the board. Elizabethtown responded with a 9-0 run over the next 10 minutes go game time to take a 13-1 lead. 

Logan Frank and Cameron McKee netted back-to-back goals to pull Susquehanna to within 10, but E-Town responded with a three-goal spurt to make it 16-3 again. First-year Brennan Lorence kept battling though, netting a goal at the buzzer of the first half for SU's fourth goal. 

Lorence kept his momentum going for the River Hawks, tallying the final three goals of the game for SU to up his season total to 29 on the year. Lorence finished with six points on the day, scoring four times to go with two assists, adding two ground balls. 

Junior Ryan Prum won 13-of-27 face-offs on the day, picking up a team-high five ground balls, while Ted Zaborowski also collected four ground balls. Defenders Gavin Rossman and Aidan Kennedy each caused a turnover and scooped up two loose balls. Augie Granatelli came off the bench to make 11 stops for SU, while James Czarnaski also posted a stop in the fourth quarter.

Elizabethtown was paced by the seven points each from Owen Yake and Micah Ballew. Yake led all players with five goals, and Ballew, Gavin Gismondi and Riley Langen all found the back of the net four times. Brayden Franey made six stops in goal over 45 minutes, and Alex Newman also stopped six River Hawk shots in the fourth quarter.
