SELINSGROVE, PA (April 30, 2022) -- Junior
Kristen Bair picked up a straight set victory at No. 6 singles, but the River Hawk women's tennis squad finished its 2021-22 season with an 8-1 defeat to Goucher College in action from Garrett Courts Saturday.
Susquehanna (6-9, 1-6 Landmark) fell behind 3-0 after doubles, though
Ashlynn Searer and
Julie Bramley played well in an 8-4 defeat to Anais Dhillon and Gigi Bellisario. There were some good matches in singles play, highlighted by Bair earning a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sara Healy at No. 6.
Bair finished the season with wins in four of her last five matches, going 9-3 on the season. Her nine wins led the squad in 2021-22.
Isabella Scappaticci played well in her No. 5 battle with Alex DiGiovanni, hitting a big number of winners. The Goucher player though was able to outlast Scappaticci 6-3, 7-5.
The final match of a marvelous career came at No. 1 singles for Searer, as she dropped a 6-0, 6-2 match to Dillon. The last two seasons, Searer has posted eight victories in singles and finished her tenure at SU with a 32-18 record, playing the majority of her matches at No. 1.
