Cougars Top River Hawk Baseball Tuesday Afternoon

DALLAS, PA (April 5, 2022) – The Susquehanna University baseball team struggled defensively early on, and couldn't overcome a large first-inning deficit in falling 21-7 on the road to Misericordia University in non-conference action from Tambor Field.

Misericordia (15-10) plated seven runs in the bottom of the first on five hits and two errors from the SU defense. Two errors allowed MU to score three runs in the second inning, and the offense scored another three runs in the third to put the Cougars up 13-0 early.

Chris Corrado opened the scoring for Susquehanna with an RBI double to score Tony Rossi in the top of the fourth. Sean McCulloch followed with a two-RBI single to plate Corrado and Tyler Hargus. Kris Morrow then smashed his second home run in two games to push the score to 13-5.

Susquehanna failed to capitalize on loading the bases in the sixth inning with no outs, and Misericordia pushed across another two runs in the bottom of the inning to put them ahead 15-5.

The River Hawks (7-15) once again loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the eighth inning, but this time scored two runs off a walk by Danny Selby and a sacrifice fly from Tyler Klus to make it 15-7.

The Cougars would put the game away though with six runs in the bottom of the eighth, making it a 21-7 finish.

Morrow added yet another multi-hit performance, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Hargus went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and run scored, and McCulloch was 1-for-2 with two RBI and two walks.

Brice Gregory added long relief from the bullpen, pitching 3.0 innings while allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out one. Landon Ness pitched a perfect frame in the bottom of the seventh while striking out one batter.
