Box Score HUNTINGDON, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer fell 2-1 at Juniata this Tuesday, seeing Eagles goals in the 38th and 72nd minutes to see the hosts past the River Hawks.
Max Paczewski scored from the penalty spot for the second time in three games as a late consolation, but it was ultimately not enough for the River Hawks to complete a comeback.
Jayden Gaynor opened the scoring for the Eagles from an assist from Jacob Haynes, and Ian Edwards doubled the Juniata advantage from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box. Paczewski's goal came in the 85th minute after he was fouled in the penalty area. He dispatched the spot-kick for his conference-leading ninth goal of the season, but it wasn't enough for the River Hawks to turn the game around late on. His penalty sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, firing into the right hand side of the net.
The River Hawks had 10 shots on target in the game, including Paczewski's penalty. They also had 14 shots overall, including three from Paczewski and
John Kuderka, who had two on target.
Ben Sweeney and
Angelo Zografos also had two shots on target, with single shots on goal coming from
Zach Polovitch,
Tom O'Keefe and
MJ Dungo. The Juniata goalkeeper made 9 saves on the afternoon.
The game also saw eight yellow cards, five for the Eagles and three for the River Hawks. Juniata had seven shots on target, scoring on two, so
Gerrit Stech made five saves on the night.
The River Hawks will next be in action at Scranton at 1 PM this Saturday, October 21st. They will next be at home on October 28th on Senior Day against Drew. The loss drops them to 3-9-2 on the season as they look to finish strong in their final two games.
