SCRANTON, PA - Susquehanna volleyball set out on their first Landmark road weekend series Friday night, opening at Scranton. While the River Hawks successfully took set one, 25-21, the Royals stormed back with three straight set victories by way of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-15 decisions. The defeat puts Susquehanna at 1-2 on the Landmark season and will look to even its record back up in Saturday's afternoon matchup at Drew at 1:00 p.m.
Sami Kline led the match with six kills for seven points, while also totaling six digs and one solo block.
Brie Livezey also had seven points by way of five kills with one solo block and two block assists, totaling a .333 hitting percentage.
Keira Roach led the team with 14 digs with ten assists, along with libero
Valerie Stoltz totaling 13 digs with a paif of service aces.
Regan Kane and
Amanda Gore also each had two service aces as the team had seven on the night.
Kyndall Mason had five kills, while
Emma Willow had four on the night.Â
Susquehanna finished with a .108 hitting percentage on the night with 30 kills and 16 errors on 130 attemptsx, with their highest set total of the night coming in set one with a .195 hitting percentage on 11 kills with just three errors on 41 attempts. Scranton amassed a .250 hitting percentage, registering 59 kills with 21 errors on 152 attempts. Their highest on the evening was in the game-clinching fourth set, totaling a .394 percentage with 16 kills on just three errors on 33 attacks, where as Susquehanna managed a -.069 percentage in the frame with three kills and five errors on 29 attempts. The Royals also had an efficient second set where they hit .379 with 14 kills and three errors on 29 attempts to the River Hawks' .120 off six kills and three errors on 25 attacks.Â
Scranton's high-scoring numbers came by way of Stephanie Margolies and Deanna Whelpley, who each had 17 kills on the night, along with Margolies amassing four aces. Whelpley also had a game-best 19 digs and Margolies adding 12 digs and a game-best four service aces of Scranton's nine on the night . Sophia Hadjiyane finished with 12 kills with just two errors on 24 attempts, giving her a match-high .417 hitting percentage.
