Volleyball Falls to Juniata in Landmark Conference Semifinals

HUNTINGDON, PA – Susquehanna Volleyball competed against #1 Juniata in the semifinals round of the Landmark Conference on Thursday. The River Hawks ultimately dropped each set by final scores of 25-13, 25-13, and 25-8.

The first set of the match started with competitive action from the squad, as Emily Kowalski's two kills and an attacking error from the Eagles allowed Susquehanna to pull even with a score of 3-3. That would be the last time in the set the score would remain even, however, as Juniata quickly put together nine straight points to jump out to a 12-3 lead. Senior Maddy Kempski entered the game and tossed up a service ace for the River Hawks, but it would not be enough as Juniata secured a 25-13 victory.

Set two saw Susquehanna capitalize on a service ace from Keira Roach and a kill by Sami Kline to take an early 3-1 lead. Points would be exchanged for the next few services, until the match was evened at 6-6. Juniata then strung together six- and five-point streaks to put the match out of reach, winning the set 25-13.

The final set saw a dominant performance from the Eagles, as they jumped out to a 7-1 lead, which quickly turned into a 22-6 deficit for the River Hawks. A 25-8 victory for
Juniata sends them into the conference finals, where they will face Scranton.

Kline, Emily Kowalski, and Brie Livezey led the River Hawks attack with four kills each, while Roach supplied 12 assists. Valerie Stoltz led the back line with nine digs on the night, as Kline denied Juniata with two blocks.

Susquehanna's season comes to an end, but their efforts against a total of nine different ranked opponents secure the young core with plenty of experience moving forward.
